Halloween is Coming: The Costume Countdown Begins
Halloween is only 58 days away, so it’s time to start thinking about ideas for baby Halloween costumes. More specifically, it’s time to start thinking about what costume you can convince your tot to wear that won’t induce a temper tantrum. Here are a few suggestions to kick off your search:
The 2008 Tom Arma Halloween Costume Signature Collection has several costumes that can do double duty as adorable outfits for Christmas parties, like an Elf costume, a “Snowbaby” costume and a Santa costume.
Older kids are going crazy for this Wall-E Costume. Shop early for Wall-E costumes to avoid disappointment and panic on Halloween.
Vegas-bound babies will love the Elvis costume, which they can also wear while performing drive-thru weddings. Hail to The King, baby!
Stay tuned for more Halloween costume updates in the next few weeks!

Baby Clothing Recall: Taggies Sleep ‘n Play Infant Garments
A voluntary recall has been issued for Taggies Sleep ‘N Play Infant Garments because the snap closures pose a potential choking threat. Luckily no injuries were reported prior to this recall, but it is always better to be safe than sorry. The two Sleep ‘n Play styles affected in the recall were sold between June 2007 through May 2008 at places like Dillards and Nordstrom and have the code “RN #27829″ printed on the garment’s care label. The Taggies licensee who manufactured these styles, Rashti & Rashti, is offering a refund, so check out their website for details.
I have to commend Taggies for their quick action on this recall and their overall commitment to children’s safety. The website has a full page of safety information and resources, in addition to a link for recall information on the homepage. It gives me a lot more confidence in their pledge to provide safe baby products.
There have been a few other recent notable recalls that I haven’t had a chance to blog about, so please check out the US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s June 2008 Recalls and Product Safety News when you have a chance. Here are some highlights:
eStyle Recalls Mini Chef Toy Kitchens Due to Choking and Tip-Over Hazards
Stanley Furniture Recalls Cribs Due to Entrapment Hazard
Nordstrom Recalls Girls’ Sandals Due to Choking Hazard
Simmons Kids Recalls Crib Mattresses Due to Entrapment Hazard

Croc Attack!
I am a little surprised to learn how dangerous Crocs shoes can be for kids. 77 escalator entrapment “incidents” in the US alone??? Are you kidding me??? With their bright colors, slip-resistant soles and fashion-repellent aesthetic, they seemed (at least to me) like the ideal kids’ shoes. Guess I was wrong.
At least I am consoled by this awesome discovery in kids’ shoes: Pediped footwear!
The shoes are adorable, and they are recommended by podiatrists. Best of all, I called Pediped and they have not had any problems with their shoes getting stuck in escalators.

Funny Baby Clothes

This post about Ten Weird Baby Outfits on Divine Caroline is totally cracking me up. I know Halloween is months away, but I have a total soft spot for babies in ridiculous baby clothes. Part of me feels a little bad, knowing these kids will grow up and have to deal with friends and loved ones teasing them about these outfits.
But all that said, seriously, what is cuter than a kid in a ridiculous costume?
Muscle Beach Baby
Nice Elephant “trunk”….maybe they should just cut that off and call it a mouse costume?

Hot Mommas!
I found this great site called OC Mamma that is definitely worth a look. Their organic baby clothes are all currently 20% off, and they have some really cute things.
I am in love with this Puff Sleeve Onesie:

And this Spaghetti Strap Tank Top:

Both are adorable and on sale for $18.
OC Mamma also has a lot of great resources, like a list of area Mom’s Clubs and a Girl Talk Forum where moms can connect. Definitely worth a look!
