Baby Pacifier Recall: ‘It’s My Binky’ Personalized Pacifiers
Thanks go out to Dayna at Sew Sweet Baby Gifts for the heads-up on this recall: ‘It’s My Binky’ has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 115,000 personalized pacifiers. There haven’t been any injuries reported, but as always, better safe than sorry. Parents should take the pacifiers away from babies immediately and return them to the place of purchase to receive a free replacement.

Special Thanks to My Guest Bloggers
I just wanted to take a second to thank my guest bloggers Safiyyah Lanier and Traci Latoz for their recent posts on Baby Blog Blog. You’ll be seeing more of their work, and maybe a few more guest bloggers in the future, since there is so much great baby information out there and it is difficult for just one aunt to keep up!
Thanks again for the great posts!

Back from Vacation: Kids and Batman
I just got back from vacation less than 18 hours ago and I have been trying to catch up on work so I have not had a chance to download my pics yet but I promise they will be posted in the next few days. The weather was great, the kids were fantastic and funny and we had a great time. I never know what to expect from the kids, and that is part of what makes them so much fun.
For example, I was really surprised by how much the kids love Batman. They are still pretty young, and there is no way their parents will let them watch The Dark Knight for years. I don’t think they have really even seen the other Batman movies, though they probably have at least seen the animated series. Still, it seemed like The Dark Knight zeitgeist was definitely in the air as my niece and nephews and their friends played endless rounds of Batman games.
Their love of Batman has inspired me to look for games they can play indoors when the weather gets cold, and luckily, there are plenty of fun Batman learning games, so I can remain the “cool aunt” without feeling guilty that I am causing brain drain. I especially like the Batman Deluxe Laptop , but it seems to be currently unavailable. I hope it makes a return before Christmas, because I am sure it will be a big hit with the kids in my life.

Child Burned at Playground
It’s hard to believe a little summer fun could turn to a horrid case of skin burn.
A story was released recently about a toddler whose feet were burned to the point where the skin was falling off. Now, you would think that something really wrong occurred, but it was something that many children do at the park. The child, named Will, kicked off his shoes and ran to play on the mats that lay throughout the park. The sun wasn’t that hot – maybe about 80 degrees, but the mats were well over 165 degrees. Almost instantly the child began to scream and just like that, his feet were severely burned. The child was in the New York-Presbyterian Hospital for four days.
When questions were asked to the NYC Park Advocates, they replied that there are signs posted with warnings against the removal of shoes – but it doesn’t exactly state any dangers of disobedience.
The request for removal of the mats was denied since the Park Advocates are more concerned about bone fractures and deaths over burns. Yes, if a kid falls off the monkey bars onto the mat, it saves them from a hard fall, but if they are at scorching temperatures, won’t other exposed skin be burned? Or if a kid with their shoes on decides to sit down on the mat or do a handstand, what warning did they have?
Who should be at fault, the parents or the parks?

Paris Hilton’s Next Role: A Mom????
Please tell me the rumors are wrong: supposedly a jealous Paris Hilton is trying to have a baby in an attempt to steal tabloid attention away from best frenemy/former co-star Nicole Ritchie. Egads.
There are so many reports both confirming and denying the story that I don’t know what to believe anymore. However, in case she is pregnant, I found the perfect maternity tops for her:

Recycled milk jug toys

With all the buzz about recalled imported toys, it’s no wonder that parents are looking for non-toxic green toys to amuse their children. I was truly astonished when I ran across an entire line of environmentally-friendly toys made from recycled milk jugs. They’re made by Green Toys, Inc., a California company, and they’re OH SO CUTE! Green Toys makes a nice variety of recycled toys including a tea set, indoor gardening set, sand play set, and a cookware set. According to their website, recycling just a pound of milk jugs to make their toys saves enough energy to power a television for 3 weeks, and since the toys aren’t imported, think of all the fuel that’s saved! And, any parent who has ever tried to wrestle a typical toy from its box will appreciate that Green Toys greatly reduces the packaging of their earth friendly toys. They’re all packaged in recycled corrugated cardboard with no cellophane or those pesky little twist ties.

Barbie Takes Down the Bratz
Breaking news: Looks like the ongoing battle between Barbie and the Bratz finally has a winner. “Queen Pimp” Barbie has been declared Bordello Madame and will be receiving a piece of all the Bratz’ earnings. Several of the Bratz are apparently very upset with the decision and are rumored to have already submitted their resumes to the Bunny Ranch. Stay tuned for more info!
