Crazy Kids: Terrible Threes
I guess it’s true that you can’t take your eyes off a toddler for even a second. A 3-year-old in the UK recently got stuck inside a Skill Crane while his mom had her back turned to get more change. At least he got to keep one of prizes for his trouble. Apparently a similar incident happened in Austin, TX, a few years ago as well, also involving a 3-year-old boy. I am starting to see a pattern here with boys of a certain age, and it is once again making me revisit the toddler safety harness idea for little ones in my life.

Keeping Baby Off the Bottle
Here’s something a little unusual: Milkscreen alcohol testing for nursing mothers. Much like the one-step over-the-counter pregnancy tests that originally signaled Junior’s imminent arrival, nursing moms simply need to saturate one end of the test strip (with breast milk instead of urine) and wait two minutes for the results. I guess it is great for new mothers who prefer not to think about breast milk storage, and of course for new moms who’d like a glass of wine without feeling guilty about passing potentially harmful effects to their baby.

Strawberry Shortcake Redux
As if Strawberry Shortcake recent make-over wasn’t depressing enough…reader Amanda sent a link to The Shocking Cost If Strawberry Shortcake’s Makeover Was Real on Mainstreet.com. The grand total: $23,675.19. The article includes cost analysis for each nip and tuck, including the $485 freckle removing.
The phrase “freckle removing” makes me want to shudder. I guess now I just have to hope and pray that somebody doesn’t get the great idea to give Rainbow Brite a makeover. I don’t think I can bear to read about her star removal.

Croc Attack!
I am a little surprised to learn how dangerous Crocs shoes can be for kids. 77 escalator entrapment “incidents” in the US alone??? Are you kidding me??? With their bright colors, slip-resistant soles and fashion-repellent aesthetic, they seemed (at least to me) like the ideal kids’ shoes. Guess I was wrong.
At least I am consoled by this awesome discovery in kids’ shoes: Pediped footwear!
The shoes are adorable, and they are recommended by podiatrists. Best of all, I called Pediped and they have not had any problems with their shoes getting stuck in escalators.

Strawberry Shortcake Meets Dr. 90210
There’s some very Berry bad news on Jezebel today…the Powers-That-Be at American Greetings decided to re-vamp my beloved Strawberry Shortcake to look like this:
This makes me want to cry. I NEVER EVER EVER would have thought to give Strawberry Shortcake a make-over because she never needed one. I guess she’s ready to compete with Barbie and the Bratz now, though.

It’s a Baby, Man!
I am totally cracking up over the ManBabies website. Whoever came up with this is genius. It’s so bizarre but SO funny.
I love the “Version 2.0″ idea for kids clothes, especially if the kid is a Jr. But I think you could only get away with it a few times when the kid is really young and doesn’t read. Otherwise, he might start developing issues and get all rebellious that his parents don’t respect him as an individual, etc. Or at least that is what After School Specials in the 1970s and 80s have lead me to believe.
Underage Drinking! Apparently ManBabies like Bud Light.

I want this kid on my soccer team!
Check out ManBabies for more hilarity.

And the Winner is…….
Sorry I am a few days behind in announcing the CD contest winner! I was trying to create a fabulous announcement with lots of animation like fireworks and stuff, but let’s just say I had some technical difficulties.
So, without further ado, the winner of the Rockabye Baby! Lullabye Rendition of the Pixies CD for the best caption of this photo is Mike of The DJs Corner. Enjoy Mike’s entry :
“I suggest you walk away sir, for I do not know how much longer I can refrain this baby from taking harmful action against you. That is simply not a proper use of a baby bottle.”
You can check at all the comments here. Rockabye Baby!’s Lullabye Renditions of The Pixies goes on sale tomorrow, June 10th, if you want to pick up a copy for the rockin’ little one in your life.
Also, stay tuned for the next Baby Blog Blog Contest!
